Sikh boy dies in mysterious circumstances after confrontation in car

ImageFAIRFAX: A 21-year-old Sikh boy from Fairfax reportedly died after a confrontation in a moving car which had four other passengers and the police is investigating exactly what had occured which led to such a tragic incident. The family of the victim was denied immediate access to the body of Simran Singh and has now turned to SALDEF for help.Simran Singh was pronounced dead at Inova Alexandria Hospital in the wee hours of Saturday.

Media reports on several websites and newspapers across US said the Arlington County detectives have termed the death as suspicious and the report of the medical examiner was still awaited. The body was meanwhile consigned to flames as per Sikh rituals where hundreds of friends, relatives and members of the Sikh community participated.

Simran who had spent most of his life at Fairfax had gone to George Mason University. The family called in the Sikh American Legal Defense and Education Fund. Simran Singh reportedly knew only one of the men in the car, a high school mate, who had become a Marine and had been sent to Iraq.
